Product Description

The American Indian tipi-inspired design of the Nakoma Golf Club was originally created by Wright in 1923 for a country club that was planned on Winnebago ceremonial campgrounds in Wisconsin. When it was actually constructed after Wright's death in 2001 by the Taliesin Architects, it was for a different client in Clio, California. Two sculptural figures were to stand in large circular shallow basins of water at the entrance to the Nakoma Country Club in Madison, Wisconsin. The California sculptures were created at 90% of the original planned height: 16' and 11.5' respectively. They stand at the entrance of the resort to welcome guests.
The Nakomis sculpture is a rectilinear design. With a commanding, fatherly presence he teaches his son to shoot with a bow and arrow.
