1. Discover the Driftless
Our Driftless Landscape Tour is a great option for families with children under 10 (and free for children under 6)! This completely outdoor tour speaks to the natural history of the estate, using Frank Lloyd Wright as the connecting theme between topics. Explore the landscape that Wright felt drawn to and learn about the geology, ecology, and agricultural history of southwestern Wisconsin that attracts so many people to the Driftless Area. Alternatively, enjoy panoramic views of the estate while discovering the Driftless Region on our Welsh Hills Trail! The 1-mile public trail departs from the upper parking lot and ends at Unity Chapel. Funding for this program is graciously provided by Prairie Springs: Paul Fleckenstein Charitable Trust. |

2. Tour the Estate
We offer a variety of tours designed for every level of interest. Families with students 10 + can select from our 1-Hour, 2-Hour, Highlights, and Estate tours. The 1-Hour tour is our most economical option and provides a great overview of the remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site in our students’ backyard. For aspiring architects, the Hillside Drafting Studio on the Highlights and Estate tours is a must-see. Pro Tip: Optimize your experience by booking in advance.

3. Sign up for a Summer Camp
Looking for a way to engage your teens over the summer? We can help! This season, we’re offering two pre-college design studios. Choose from virtual camp, Design with a Pro, or in-person camp From Detail to City. Taught by University of Chicago instructor and urban planner Luke Joyner, From Detail to City explores the social and spatial implications of scale through multiple design mediums. Taught by Taliesin-trained architect Michael Des Barres, Design with a Pro equips students with technical modeling skills to build their digital rendering portfolios. From Detail to City starts June 27 and runs through July 1. Design with a Pro starts on July 11 and runs through July 22.

4. Dine at the Riverview Terrace Café
The Riverview Terrace Café offers Grab & Stay lunches that families can enjoy in our Wright-designed dining room overlooking the Wisconsin River. Alternatively, soak in some sun and enjoy your lunch on one of our outdoor picnic tables. We proudly source sustainable and organic meats and produce from the very best of the area’s bounty. Boxed items from our seasonal and regionally-reliant menu are available for purchase in the gift shop during business hours or while supplies last.

5. Explore Our Children’s Section in the Gift Shop
Check out our fantastic selection of Wright-themed games, puzzles, and books! We even have a cozy nook for children to sit and read! Traveling from out of state? We can ship your items home through our online store!

6. Discover Wright’s World Through Art!
Sacred Spaces: Frank Lloyd Wright x Andrew Pielage is on view now at the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center. Free and open to the public during business hours through August, this exhibit provides the perfect opportunity to introduce kids to Wright’s designs. The architectural photography exhibit features over thirty photographs of Andrew Pielage’s work from a dozen Wright sites, with pieces selected to highlight the use of light, texture, and composition to create sanctified space.

7. Try Wright’s Birthday Cake
Experience Taliesin without leaving your home. Frank Lloyd Wright turns 155 this year on June 8 and it’s a Taliesin tradition to bake Mrs. Wright’s cake. Celebrate with us at home.
